Apple’s Liquid Glass in iOS 26 Faces Backlash After Alleged Designer Firing Goes Viral

Apple's Liquid Glass

So, listen, this whole “Liquid Glass” thing Apple just rolled out for iOS 26? It’s caused quite a stir, let me tell ya. It’s being called one of the biggest design overhauls since iOS 7, bringing back those kinda nostalgic glass-based translucent UI elements, a bit like what we saw way back in Windows Vista or even macOS X’s Aqua theme. But, uh, turns out, folks aren’t exactly thrilled with it. A lot of the chatter’s been about how hard it is to read stuff and just how… not clean the whole interface looks. Seriously, the internet‘s even been playfully poking fun ogioat Apple, noting just how much it reminds them of Windows Vista, and even MKBHD, the big tech reviewer, piped up with complaints. While a few folks actually dig the new vibe, many others are just shaking their heads at what they call its “messy implementation”.

Now, for the really wild part. On the very day of the WWDC 2025 keynote, a design lead named Jon Yongfook – though, he apparently falsely claimed to be an Apple employee in his X post – he went public saying Apple fired him and his entire design team!

Can you believe it?

He even went on to say his team had poured 18 months into “tirelessly testing different levels of Gaussian blur on backgrounds when foreground elements are in focus”.

But wait, there’s more. After his alleged termination, Yongfook didn’t just pack up and go quiet. Nope, he actually shared some images of what he claimed were his “last projects” for Apple. Get a load of these names for future iOS versions:

iOS 30 Sashimi: Promising a “clean fresh vibe“.

iOS 27 Orangutan: Described as having a “majestic natural beauty“.

iOS 28 Rattan: Supposedly boasting “rustic charm“.

iOS 29 Candy: Bringing back the “nostalgia“.

“After 18 months of testing blur levels, Apple allegedly told the design team to ‘clear out’—ironically, with zero Gaussian.”

And then, with a pretty cheeky twist, he announced that he’s “looking for experts in the blur, glass liquid, grass or fur UI space”. His “design team” is apparently on the hunt for some very specific talent, including:

  •    Lead Text Obfuscater
  •    Background Blur Technician
  •    Glass and Fur Consultant

This whole “Liquid Glass” situation is set to land on everyone’s iPhones globally in Fall 2025, right alongside the launch of the next generation iPhone 17 series . This info, by the way, was reported by The Financial Express, with their article updated on June 11, 2025. What a mess, huh?
