Samsung’s One Hand Operation+ Gets 3 Powerful Upgrades: Multiple Gesture Handles, Smart Back Gestures & More

One Hand Operation+

Samsung’s One UI is already pretty amazing when it comes to letting you customize your phone exactly how you like it. But if that’s not enough, Samsung’s Good Lock modules especially the powerful One Hand Operation+ take things to the next level, offering advanced personalization features for serious power users.

But here’s the kicker: if you’re anything like me and that’s still not enough for ya, Samsung’s got these cool things called Good Lock modules. These modules, they just take things to a whole other level, seriously. Good Lock, it’s got something for just about everyone, whether you’re into changing how your UI looks or you’re after some really advanced functions that let your phone do way more than what One UI offers right out of the box. It’s basically a super powerful tool.

You’ll Need to Download It First

Now, before we dive into the cool new stuff, it’s worth a little note: Good Lock itself doesn’t actually come preinstalled on your Galaxy phone. So, if you’re thinking about getting more productive with your phone, or just making it truly yours, Good Lock is definitely one of those apps you should grab and install. People who care about getting stuff done on their phones, they really dig it.

One Hand Operation+ Is Now Even Better

So, what’s the big news then?
Well, Samsung recently gave one of its most popular Good Lock modules a really significant upgrade. And we’re talking about the One Hand Operation+ module here. As the name pretty much shouts at you, this module is specifically designed to make it way easier for you to control your big Galaxy phone with just one hand. Seriously, it’s a lifesaver when you’re trying to text while holding coffee or something.

How Gesture Handles Worked Before

Before this recent update, the way One Hand Operation+ usually worked was pretty neat, but it had its limits, right? The whole idea was to make it super easy to control your big Galaxy phone with just one hand. So, what it would do is let you put these special “gesture handles” on both the left and right edges of your screen. And from these handles, you could then set up different areas where you’d swipe in a certain way – like just swiping straight in, or maybe swiping diagonally upwards, or even diagonally downwards.

Each of these swipes could trigger a different action, which was great for doing things quickly without having to stretch your thumb all over the place. Like, you could set a quick swipe to go back, or launch an app, or maybe even open your notifications. That was pretty awesome for one-handed use, no doubt.

But here’s the thing, before this new upgrade, you were kinda stuck with just one of these handles on the left side and just one on the right side. That was okay, and it worked, but it meant your options for quick actions were, well, a bit restricted. You had two main zones, one on each side, and that was it for your custom gestures.

The Big Upgrade: Multiple Handles Per Side

But now, oh man, the folks at Samsung, they’ve really upped their game with One Hand Operation+. They brought in two noteworthy new features that are pretty game-changing.

The first big change, and this is pretty cool, is that the module no longer has that limitation of just one handle per side. This is a huge deal! Now, you can actually add multiple gesture handles on each side of the screen. So, think about it: instead of just one big area on the left and one on the right for your custom swipes, you can divide those sides up into several smaller, distinct areas. This essentially means you can now assign way, way more functions to different areas of your screen, making your phone even more tailored to your workflow.

Like, imagine having one part of the edge for “back,” another for “home,” and yet another for “recent apps,” all accessible with different parts of your thumb’s reach on the same side. It’s a lot more power right there at your fingertips. The sources do point out that, at first, you might find it a little tricky to remember where you’ve put everything, because, well, you’ll have so many new options! But I bet once you get used to it, it’ll be super intuitive. And get this: this cool new ability to add more handles? That’s working on both One UI 6 and One UI 7, so a lot of folks can enjoy it already!

Second Big Feature: New “System Back Gesture” Toggle

Now, the second new feature is also a pretty big deal, especially if you’re someone who uses the system’s back gesture a lot. This is a new toggle they’ve added called “System back gesture”. Previously, it used to be a bit of a headache, right? If you had a gesture handle enabled on one side of your screen using One Hand Operation+, you actually couldn’t use the standard system back gesture on that same side. It was either your custom gesture or the system one, but not both. That could get annoying because sometimes you just want the regular “back” behavior without triggering a custom action.

But now, with this new toggle, that problem is basically gone. Once you flip this “System back gesture” toggle on, which you’ll find on the Advanced settings page of the One Hand Operation+ module, you get your freedom back. It means you can once again use the system back gesture, even on the side where you have your custom handles enabled. The magic is that it now lets you use the system back gesture specifically outside the handle area on your screen. So, you get the best of both worlds: your custom gestures within the handle zones, and the reliable system back gesture everywhere else on that side. Super convenient, right?

One UI 8 Required for Full Experience

There’s just one thing to keep in mind for this specific “System back gesture” toggle: you’ll need your Galaxy phone to be running One UI 8 to get access to it. So, while the multiple handles feature is more broadly available, this particular back gesture fix is for those on the very latest software.

Custom Galaxy Experience, Now More Powerful Than Ever

All in all, these upgrades really push the customizability of Galaxy phones to a whole new level. It’s pretty clear Samsung is always looking to make their phones not just smart, but also super personal and efficient for how you use them. The Good Lock modules, especially One Hand Operation+, are a prime example of that. It’s about giving you more control and more power over your device, making those everyday interactions smoother and more intuitive. And that, my friend, is why this update is a big deal!
